The CPRdb Portal
Access Page and Overview

Introduction

The CPRDb Portal is is an experimental facility, that allows login access to the CPRdb web site. To use the Portal you will need a CID (CPR identifier) and password. In some cases, access is limited to connections from specific network addresses. Three broad types of service are then available:

  1. access to the database using the table based, and SQL command interfaces,
  2. update access to the CPRdb database and system files,
  3. access to project work, e.g. on surnames, and nominal data linkage.

Use of the Portal is at the authorised users discretion. None of the Portal facilities are guaranteed in any sense. This applies equally to the results reported, Portal and domain functionality, and Portal availability.

Priledged Access Domain

The CPRdb Portal “Priviledged Access Domain” provides access to CPRdb methods that are either experimental or carry a risk to the operation of the website. For example, trying to execute queries that cannot be answered or put excessive demands on the database processor.

Surname Domain

The CPRdb Portal “Surname Domain” contains work on surnames, not only CPRdb surnames, but datasets from elsewhere in this and other countries. In addition, several processes (for example associated with “canonical names”) are available. Some of the datasets are covered by usage restrictions and therefore access to this domain is available to those who have signed appropriate agreements.

Nominal Data Linkage Domain

The CPRdb Portal “Linkage Domain” contains work on nominal data linkage, principally between the CPRdb events. This work uses data and procedures associated with the Surname Domain and has several associated datasets (e.g. actuarial life expectancy tables) obtained from a number of sources. Some of these datasets are covered by usage restrictions and access to this domain is restricted to those who have signed the appropriate access agreements.

Editor Access Domain

The CPRdb Portal “Editor Access Domain” allows editors and others access to data and processes associated with CPRdb.
